Well, what’s in a name? Learning Potential… I hope it gives you an indication of the values on which I base my work – values that include:
I started working independently, trading as Learning Potential, in January 2007. Previously I worked for many years in the classroom as an English teacher. I began dabbling in IT (as it was called then) to improve the opportunities for the young people in my classroom to write. In those early days, much of the focus of English teachers interested in IT was on using word processing software as an aid for drafting. I was also interested in the opportunities of IT for creating audience and purpose. With one challenging class of 14 year-olds we created a school teletext magazine (remember Teletext?) The transformation in their engagement, communication and creativity was striking. I was convinced.
Since then, I have followed a number of roles – Head of ICT, initial teacher trainer at an ‘Outstanding’ PGCE department and, even, a Business Manager for a commercial ICT company.
I am proud of the way Learning Potential has forged successful relationships with schools, colleges, and education-focused organisations since 2007. I believe this is because I am dedicated to meeting (and, with luck, exceeding!) the needs of all my clients by being:
- Effective in outcomes.
